Rodeoooo!!!!

Kellan has a trademark move: The Rodeo

From a few weeks old, when we rocked Kellan, he would raise a fist and would wave it back and forth. We would try an swaddle him with both arms down and he would SCREAM and it took forever for him to calm down. He would squirm and somehow ALWAYS get at least one of his hands free. Because of that we started calling him our little Houdini.

Well, we realized that if we keep one of his arms out he calms right down and is much more pleasant when swaddled and ready for bed. So now, whenever we peak into his room, or wherever he's sleeping, we see this:

Happy Tuesday

Oh Kellan...

Life has been extra sweet these past few weeks! Kellan is continually amazing me with little things here and there, and we have been pretty busy!

As of late, Kellan is happiest when he's playing on his back. He loves his stuffed monkey and will alligator roll with it from side to side. He also kicks and squeals and coos. He LOVES hearing his own voice. His favorite thing to eat right now is his hands...they are constantly in his mouth and it's hard to get a picture of him without both of his hands stuffed in his gummy smile.

Kellan has also started to sit up much more. He's loving his bumbo and can last a good 10-15 min without getting tired. He enjoys standing up (with the help of mom or dad of course) and has started to squat/jump too. I am always amazed at how strong he is and how he loves to be free and move.

Kellan also loves to go on walks. It's one of his favorite time of day. Here he is with his best friend, Grandpa Bryan. Kellan LOVES Grandpa, they cuddle and watch TV, sit next to the fire together and even play in the kiddie pool! Kellan is SO lucky!

2 months!

Kellan wearing his crab onsie in honor of us going crabbing and also for him being a pill that day :)

Well, I'll post everything we did in between his first and second month later, but for now, let's focus on our favorite little juice box! Kellan has been an absolute joy this past month. I feel that for the first time we can finally start getting into some kind of a routine and that he can be sweet and pleasant for more than just a few minutes. I am amazed at how he's been able to develop SO MUCH in a short amount of time!

Not only has he developed a lot, he's had a few accomplishments along the way...

Kellan at 2 months:

Kellan and me
-23 3/4 inches (80%)
-weighs 11.13 lbs (50%)
-Loves to go on walks (still) I'm pretty sure it's his favorite part of the day.
-Laughs every time he gets to take a bath and shower and loves the feel of water on his face
-Is very vocal! He will screech with joy all the time and loves to be heard
-Is slowly getting better with his sleeping at night :)
-Loves to cuddle (especially with Grandpa Bryan)
-He can hold his head up and sit up in a corner or on your lap for quite some time without falling over
-Has an increasing curiosity for the TV
-Loves to go outside
-Loves his swing and lets everyone know when the music has stopped playing
-He has successfully peed on everyone in our family
Has great aim when it comes to peeing on everyone...One time I had to not only change my clothes, but also his bedding, wash my hair and clean the carpet. Just in one diaper changing!
Has a record of going through 4 outfits in one day because of blowouts
Has a talent for making some kind of bodily noise during the quite times at church, or when we're at the store around people

All in all, Kellan is a JOY and I am loving being his mom!

How can you not just love this little guy?

He has MANY nick names which include: Beef, beef cakes, special K, Killer Kellan, Killen, and rooter tooter (because he's either rooting or he's tooting)

Kellan met his Uncle Mitch, Aunt Rochelle and cousin Brooklyn for the first time! They came to visit and we had a BLAST!

David came back from his internship in Thailand for good! After being gone for the final 3 1/2 weeks, it was great to have him home. Kellan and dad INSTANTLY bonded and love taking naps together.

Oh where has time gone?

Oh hey there...here we are 2 months later.

With that said I have many updates! I'll try and split them up in different posts so there's not just the usual HUGE post. :)

Where to begin? Well, 12 hours after this little guy was born, David was on a flight back to Thailand to finish up his internship. It was crazy and I never want to do that again! haha, I felt even worse for David. Nothing like having an emotionally unstable wife bawling for him to not go back and that we can just live off of love and making crafts for the rest of our lives. haha oh man...

After that, it was a rude awakening to what motherhood was all about. I have come to realize that people don't tell you about the week after childbirth because then no one would have anymore children. Seriously. There is nothing that can prepare you for the week after. I don't know about natural child birth, but with a c-section. OH. MY. GOSH. It was miserable, and then you add an infant to the equation and BAM! Needless to say, I'm pretty sure the only way Kellan and I survived was because of the kind hospital staff and my INCREDIBLE parents!

After being released from the hospital, I envisioned a Gerber baby commercial-like child. Pleasant, cooing all the time, and playful. Unfortunately that was shattered within minutes. Kellan screamed NONSTOP for 2 weeks. No lie, I hate to admit it, but at times, I realized why they showed me so many videos and booklets about not shaking your baby. I was so frustrated and sleep deprived because this little guy (as sweet as he looks) was painfully screaming for 2 weeks straight. What was even worse, I could tell that he was in pain and I didn't know what was going on! He would arch his back and turn bright red and just scream out in pain. It broke my heart every time. We were both so miserable.

My mom didn't remember the first weeks being like that, and so when we went to the doctors again for a checkup and weigh in, we mentioned our dilemma and had him tested for allergies. Well, come to find out Kellan has a milk protein intolerance!! No wonder our little man was in so much pain! Once we found that out I cut all dairy and soy products from my diet and suddenly I had a normal little baby boy! It was  DREAM!!! Since I've cut those products from my diet Kellan has been the most perfect and wonderful little guy ever. He did a complete 180 within 2 days and since has become more and more pleasant and playful. I'm pretty sure one of the reasons he has this allergy was so I would appreciate how incredible this little guy is.

Overall, the first couple of weeks were a serious wakeup call to motherhood. I grew to not only love my little boy more and more each day regardless of what was going on, but also appreciate every little thing about him.
