the forbidden fruit

We have a dog named Bella who had been the center of attention for YEARS. It's somewhat embarrassing how much we adore that little girl and literally obsess over everything she does, and yet we love it. While in High School we cuddled all the time, took pictures, played in the yard, etc. And even though each of us went off to school or on a mission, when we came back, it was like we never left. Bella was still family and a best friend.

Well...along came Kellan. Suddenly Bella had been put on the back burner and started to feel left out. She was shooed away when she came near the bundle of blanket we were always holding and she wasn't allowed in Mandy's room. Now, Bella still got lots of loves and cuddles, just not as much as before. Now that Kellan is older, he's been on the floor more and Bella had been slowly inching herself closer and closer. We would promptly shoo her away and have her go to another room or outside.

After a few weeks, Bella had her first lick and it hasn't been the same ever since. Seriously-every day it's like a new game for her to see how close she can get to lick his head or toes or even hands. I've been a little harsher with her b/c Kellan's new obsession with putting everything in his mouth and I don't want him to have dog germs!

Yesterday we were visiting with grandma and played with Bella together. I let Kellan pet Bella softly, and give her loves so he could get used to her. This obviously meant that they were now bff's, so while Kellan was in his johnny jumper minding his own business later that day, Bella realized that he was at her level and did a sneak attack. I just happened to round the corner to see Bella licking Kellan's lips and cheeks with glee and Kellan just as happy. As upset as I was, I was kinda happy because I knew that they would soon become best friends. Another joy of parenthood...with a dog in the mix.

our little roller

Kellan has been rolling a TON! He'll roll from opposite ends of his mat in like 10 seconds! I never thought that I would be "that mom" who posted daily videos or pictures of her kid, but here I am...he's just too cute not to share. :) So here's him rolling and the picture is of his new fall/winter wear for the football games and our walks!

Best day of my life...

Almost. Today has already been monumental and it's only 10:45. Awesome right? Let me explain.
Growing up the fall was my LEAST favorite time of the year. Not because I didn't like football games, beautiful leaves, or even the fall flavors. It was because I hated being cold, and worse, I hated being cold in my own house.

My dad is NOTORIOUS for not putting on the heat until late November. He would just tell us to put on a sweatshirt, some socks, or even wrap up in a blanket. Now, I know that I'm a little biased because anything less than 70 is chilly for me, but seriously, Ohio gets cold! Thankfully I had a space heater. Weekly I would get yelled at because I kept my room a nice 75-80 degrees. I could stay in shorts and a t-shirt all year round and while it was glorious to me, my parents got sick of me complaining whenever I left my room because of the cold.

But seriously, my dad would make fun of us and get a little irritated when we would bust out the space heater and heaven forbid we even looked like we were touching the thermostat. So for years, and I'm talking YEARS, we've suffered in cold-becuase dad didn't want to turn on the heater. So, I don't know if it's age, or the fact that Kellan is in the house and my dad doesn't have the heart to freeze him out, but today, October 8, 2012, my Dad turned on the heat. Best day ever!!!

Johnny jumper II

Kellan loves to jump. It's becoming an obsession that is making my arms very sore, but buff. I mean really, who needs dumbbells when you have an active baby? Well, unfortunately Kellan is still figuring out his jumper-but he's much better than before and still loves every minute of it.  Enjoy!

hell has frozen over...

As of 2 min. ago, Kellan actually soothed himself to sleep!! WAHOO!!! The best ending to the most horrific morning ever! (yes, I meant morning) Last night was one of Kellan's worst night's for sleeping and it's literally so bad that it's funny. Let me start from a few nights ago....

Kellan has been a good sleeper for the past few weeks, he'll wake up once for a feeding then is up at like 6-7 for another feeding then will go down for a nap (sometimes) around 9:30. It was getting better and better each day...until last week. Suddenly Kellan became a little needy and would wake up 2-3 times a night and just never seems satisfied after he ate. So we supplemented more and tried to get him all tanked up for the night. You would think that would work...but no.

So now we come to yesterday where Kellan had been quazi fussy all day, took a nice 1 1/2 nap  in the morning then slept off and on for like 10 min throughout the afternoon....at night Kellan went down at 9, and then woke up at 9:45 then fought off sleep until about 10:40. Awesome right? I didn't think so either. Well, he finally went down at 10:40, then proceeded to wake up at 12:30, 1:15, 3, 4:30, 5:45ish, and then again at 6:45. Best night ever. Well, what I failed to mention was that he was fussy most of the times in between and that when I was changing him at 3, he peed on me. ALL over. Well, we then had the grand finale of the night...(if you have a weak stomach don't read on just enjoy the cute picture of kellan looking at me clean up his mess....)

At around 7, Kellan pooped and so I did what we have to do every time now-after the first round, we wait about 10 min, then come the second round and he's done. So I did that. And I even waited a few min after his second round to make sure he was done. Well, obviously he wasn't because as I was putting his dirty diaper off to the side, he piked (yes, he's piking and grabbing his feet now) and pooped not just on himself, but me, and also the carpet a good 2 feet away from his changing area. BEST. MORNING. EVER. Of course, all I can do is laugh at the fact that my son is now just grinning away and looks so proud of his accomplishment.

Needless to say, I am tired, thankful Kellan is finally asleep and very excited to take a nap myself asap and am still loving motherhood. If you didn't get a visual enough of what had happened, I took pictures for proof for david. Enjoy.
A big thanks goes out to Dreft and Oxyclean for cleaning up the carpet!!
